FYI: The state of Ohio has no law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. In fact, only two states have such a lawMassachusetts and Wisconsin. More than 60 U.S. cities have antidiscrimination laws protecting lesbian/ gay people. In Ohio, only two municipalities have such laws. The town of Yellow Springs (pop. 4077) has the strongest local lesbian/gay civil rights ordinance in the state, affording protection in the areas of employment, housing, credit, education and public accommodation. A law in Columbus affords minimal protection from discrimination in housing and public accommodations, and no protection at all from discrimination in employment. Employees of the State of Ohio are protected by a Governor's Executive Order banning discrimination, while public employees of Yellow Springs, Columbus and Cuyahoga County are protected by statements of policy issued by public officials.
